Automatic oil melting point instrument method for testing the melting point of lipstick

1 Introduction

Lipstick, including lipsticks, lip glosses, and lip glazes, can enhance the rosy, lustrous appearance of lips, moisturize, and protect them. It is a must-have cosmetic for women. It is generally solid and drier and harder than lip glosses and lip balms. Lipstick's main ingredients include waxes, oils, and pigments. In the cosmetics and food industries, melting point plays a crucial role in product quality control. Lipstick's melting point is typically measured by the slip melting point method. The slip melting point is a temperature indicator indicating that, under certain heating conditions, a sample softens and can flow freely in an open capillary tube. This study uses the Shanghai Jiahang Digipol-MY80 fully automatic melting point instrument to determine the slip melting point of lipstick. The measurement process is simple, rapid, and reliable.

3 Experimental Method

3.1 Sample Preparation

Take a capillary tube with both ends open and insert one end into the sample so that the sample is approximately 90 mm ± 100 mm in height.

3.2 Experimental Procedure

After turning on the machine, set the appropriate starting and ending temperatures, and heating rate, then conduct the experiment and record the results.
