Maintenance methods for Shanghai Jiahang fully automatic video melting point apparatus
The following is a complete maintenance plan covering daily cleaning, core component maintenance, periodic calibration, software and security, and long-term storage to ensure accurate, stable, and long-lasting operation of the instrument.
I. Daily Maintenance (Must be performed after each use)
1. Cleaning the Furnace Body and Heating Block (Most Critical)
After the furnace temperature has cooled to room temperature, use a lint-free cotton swab/paper dipped in anhydrous ethanol to thoroughly wipe the four capillary slots, the surface of the heating block, and the inner wall of the furnace cavity to remove sample residue, powder, and carbonized stains.
For stubborn residues: A small amount of acetone can be used for gentle wiping (operated in a fume hood). Never use metal/hard objects to scrape the heating block and furnace cavity.
Capillary: Remove immediately after testing, discard any residue, clean the interior with ethanol/acetone, and allow to air dry.
2. Optical System (Camera/Lens/Observation Window)
Gently wipe the camera lens and furnace observation window with special lens paper to remove dust, fingerprints, and moisture. Do not use ordinary paper towels/cloths to prevent scratching the lens.
1. Light Source Inspection: Confirm that the LED light source inside the furnace has uniform brightness and no flicker; contact the manufacturer for replacement if the brightness decreases.
3. Instrument Exterior and Heat Dissipation
Casing/Touchscreen: Wipe with a dry, soft cloth. Immediately wipe clean with a damp cloth if reagent is spilled to prevent liquid from seeping into the interior.
Heat Dissipation Holes/Fan: Clean dust from the side/back heat dissipation holes weekly with a soft brush; immediately stop the machine and inspect for abnormal fan noise or failure.
4. Power Supply and Connections
Check that the power cord, plug, and fuse are intact; never pull on the cable, and hold the plug at the base when plugging or unplugging.
Ensure the instrument is properly grounded and the voltage is stable (AC220V±10%).
II. Regular Maintenance of Core Components (Performed on a Cycle)
1. Heating System (Every 3 Months)
Check the heating block: no deformation, no cracks, and no blockage in the slots; contact the manufacturer for repair if heating is abnormal (slow heating, unstable temperature control).
Temperature Sensor: Check that the wiring is secure and not loose; recalibrate if drift exceeds tolerance.
1. Cooling Fan: Clean dust and ensure smooth operation; ensure forced cooling function is working properly.
2. Optical and Video System (Every 3–6 months): Deep clean lens and viewing window; check focus and image sharpness; refocus or clean if blurry.
Camera and Light Source: If brightness is insufficient or image is abnormal, contact the manufacturer to replace the part (power off operation).
3. Mechanical and Sample Holder (Every 6 months): Check sample holder and furnace door seal: no looseness, no deformation, and tight closure.
Furnace Door Hinges: Apply a small amount of silicone-based grease to ensure smooth opening and closing.
4. Replacement of Wear Parts:
Capillary Tube: Single use only, do not refill; discard immediately if damaged or contaminated.
Fuse: Replace with a fuse of the same specification if blown (see instruction manual for details). Light Source/Fan: Replace by manufacturer's professionals if performance degrades or malfunctions.
III. Temperature Calibration (Ensure accuracy, once a month)
1. Calibration Standards (Pharmacopoeia Recommended)
Naphthalene: 80.5℃
Vanillin: 83.0℃
Benzoic Acid: 122.4℃
Caffeine: 236.0℃
2. Calibration Procedure
Preheat the instrument for 30 minutes until the furnace temperature stabilizes.
Fill the standard capillary tube (2.5–3.0mm high, compacted).
Set the heating rate to 1.0℃/min and perform fully automatic testing.
Compare the instrument display value with the standard value:
Deviation **≤±0.2℃**: Pass.
Deviation **>±0.2℃**: Enter the instrument calibration menu and correct the temperature coefficient; or contact the manufacturer for adjustment.
Perform multi-point calibration (low/medium/high melting point) to ensure accuracy across the entire range.
IV. Software and Data Maintenance
Software Updates: Regularly check the manufacturer's website and update through official channels to fix vulnerabilities and optimize functions.
Data Management: Test data is automatically saved, and regularly exported as PDF/Excel files and backed up; meets 21 CFR Part 11 and audit trail requirements (Shanghai Jiahang).
Log Cleanup: Regularly clean system logs to ensure smooth operation.
V. Safety and Troubleshooting
High Temperature Protection: Do not open the lid when the furnace temperature exceeds 100℃; use heat-resistant tools to remove the capillary tube.
Capillary Tube Breakage: Immediately disconnect the power. After the furnace has cooled down, remove the fragment with special tweezers. High-temperature operation is prohibited.
Troubleshooting: If temperature control malfunctions, image abnormalities, or unusual noises occur, immediately stop the machine and disconnect the power. Record the phenomenon and contact Shanghai Jiahang after-sales service. Unauthorized disassembly is strictly prohibited.
VI. Long-Term Storage (Disuse ≥ 1 Month)
Thoroughly clean the furnace body, optics, and exterior; air dry in a dry, ventilated place.
Disconnect the power supply and unplug the power cord.
Cover with a dust cover and store in a **dry, well-ventilated environment free of corrosive gases, at a temperature of 10–30℃ and humidity < 60%**.
Power on the machine for 30 minutes monthly to remove moisture and check its operating status.
